About Us

Kindred Soul is a band that plays pop and rock tunes from 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. The band covers songs by the Beatles, Hollies, Monkees, Credence, Allman Brothers, Grateful Dead, to name a few, as well as more current tunes by The Cars, Talking Heads, Steely Dan and R&B. Kindred Soul has evolved over the years, and currently hosts a new lineup, with two new singers, and accomplished musicians.

As a teenager Gary Mandell, the band’s founder and lead guitarist, was in a band signed by Epic Records that had a single released. Ultimately, he became a psychologist, but over the past decade returned to his first passion of playing music.

Jeff Blye is a classically trained pianist, who sits on the board of the Greenwich Village  Orchestra, and has performed with them. In addition, Jeff has played keyboard with numerous bands, performing varied genres throughout the years, but his heart and soul is with rock and roll.

Rob Holm is an outstanding drummer, who began playing and writing music from a young age. Rob has been signed to Major and Independent labels, and recorded and performed with several professional rock groups all over the United States, England and Ireland.

Frank Cilluffo plays bass guitar for the band, and has been a dedicated rocker his whole life. Frank brings enthusiasm, great ideas and technical expertise to the band. Frank has enough equipment to open his own music store, including an impressive collection of guitars and amps. Frank is also one of three elected park commissioners in Great Neck.

Our two singers are the newest additions to the band, and have really contributed to our musical diversity and appeal.  Matt Blye spends his days writing software, but at night you can probably find him at a karaoke bar in Manhattan.  Which one?  Pick one.

Carol Dickerson has sung with several bands over the last twenty years. Her repertoire includes jazz, R&B and classical music, as well as funk and rock and roll. Carol’s soulful and dynamic style provides an added dimension.
